Endowments
An endowment is a restricted, invested fund that holds and manages financial gifts to generate income and is often used to fund ministries that are above and beyond the annual operating budget. These funds are held in perpetuity, securing FPC’s financial future and support of ministries. The church spends only the earnings or interest on the fund; the principal (original gift) is rarely touched. Endowments are often made in honor or in memory of a loved one.
Existing FPC Endowment Funds Include:
Gift Trust Fund
Established in 1994, the FPC Perpetual Sustaining Gift Trust Fund enables donors to be expand their stewardship beyond their annual tithe and special offerings in any given year through the giving of accumulated wealth and/or appreciated assets. Gifts to the Gift Trust Fund are unrestricted and given in compliance with the Gift Trust Fund Policy. Subsequent endowment funds are restricted and managed by the Gift Trust Fund Committee. Examples of such endowment funds are:
James O. Speed, Jr, D. Min. & Flora MacDonald Speed Legacy Fund for Seminarians
This fund provides financial assistance beyond tuition to those FPC Marietta supported individuals pursuing full-time Christian ministry. The intent of this fund is to ease the burden on these students and their families as each pursues Christian education and ministerial preparation.
Ralph & Sarah Farrar Education Fund
This fund supports continuing education for pastors, especially during a sabbatical period, for lay leaders, and for church staff seeking to further their professional training while employed by First Presbyterian Church of Marietta.
Capital Replacement Fund
This fund provides the means by which FPC can sustain maintenance of its grounds and property in perpetuity.
While gifts are encouraged towards the established funds above, we highly recommend that individuals who wish to establish a new endowment please contact the Director of Administration.
