Kirkin' of the Tartan

Kirkin' of the Tartan

The Kirkin' of the Tartan service will be held on September 9, 2018 in the Great Hall (8:30 a.m. & 11:00 a.m.). The music of bagpipes and drums will lead a processional of tartan banners representing various Scottish clans. The St. Andrew's Society of Atlanta has graciously offered its collection of tartan banners for our use.

Kirkin' is the Scottish word for blessing, and a tartan is a wool cloth of various colors and plaids. The cloth design is specific to a particular clan, or people united by kinship and descent. Bagpipes, drums, and other special music will enhance these services. Join us for refreshments between services in Holland Hall. All Presbyterians share in the Scottish founders’ heritage of faith.

Let's gather together to worship and to celebrate our heritage.

Volunteers are needed to carry the banners and flags. Please see the available banner and flag list below and submit your selection.
