 Presbyterian Women Today

Presbyterian Women Today (PWT) is one of the oldest ministries of First
Presbyterian Church! It was begun — to the glory of God —
in 1875 and still exists today.
For over 200 years the Lord has used PWT to nurture
faith through prayer and Bible study; to support the mission
of the church worldwide; to work for justice and peace; to
build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens
the PC(USA) and witnesses to the promises of God's kingdom.
There are several activities we engage in during the year.
Monthly, we gather for prayer and Bible Study. Annually,
PWT hosts a "New Babies Dedication" in celebration
of the babies born throughout the previous year. These children
are presented by their mothers and dedicated in the sanctuary
by one of our pastors. Every spring, PWT offers
a women's retreat and welcomes all the women in the church.
We actively support the missions of our church and denomination,
our seminary students and missionaries, and the homebound
members of our congregation.
Within the larger Presbyterian Women Today group, small groups
are formed. Currently,
we have two morning groups and one night group. All groups
meet the second Monday of the month. Day Groups meet at 10:00
a.m. in the Great Hall and night groups meet at 7:00
p.m. in the Glover Room of the church. For the night groups,
a light supper is served at the cost of $3.00. Day Groups do not meet
during the summer; however, night groups meet year round.
In addition to the various groups that meet, there is also
a Coordinating Team of officers elected to organize
and lead the women's groups. The Coordinating Team meets the
fourth Monday of each month at 9:30 a.m.
