FPConnect
Welcoming - Nurturing - Serving
"We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully." Romans 12: 6-8
PURPOSE
- Help church members find their God-given ministry
- Mobilize members to the blessings of servanthood based on their spiritual gifts and passions
- Connect them with the ministries for which they are best suited
- Lead and develop them toward their full potential
- Affirm their worth to God, church, others, and themselves
FPConnect is for everyone! Some of us will be connectors, others will be welcomers, idea generators, master planners, listeners, information gatherers and passers, or some other vehicle for gathering God's people in a welcoming and exciting home.
With the help of our FPConnect Director, Mimi Davenport, First Presbyterian Church will work to bring every member into another level of involvement in the life of the church. She is a resource to help each group open its doors and breathe new life into its small-group ministry. She also facilitates the initiating of new ministries as their needs become evident.
Where & When
Everywhere & always! This ministry is not a one-time event--it is the way we will "do church" from now on. First Presbyterian Church cannot be "Where God's House Feels Like Home" unless each of us works to bring all members to the inner circle of the family. Every existing ministry, class, bible study, activity, committee, etc. (as well as many which will be started in the future) will benefit from FPConnect.
Every ministry group will have an FPConnector who will be trained to guide present and future group members in the process of being involved. These connectors will bring new members into their ministry areas, nurture ministry area members--making them feel welcome--make sure new members get all information necessary to become a full partner in the ministry area, follow-up with new members to insure their comfort in participating, help members develop their Spiritual Gifts and find appropriate areas of service within that ministry and in new ministry areas.
