Financial
Ministry
“No one can serve two masters. Either
he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted
to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God
and money.” Matthew 6:24
It is clear in this scriptural passage that man is not meant
— nor is he able — to serve two masters. We must
choose whether we serve God or money. The First Presbyterian
Church Financial Ministry’s purpose is to educate our
friends and congregants about how we can handle this complicated
issue and remain in accordance with God’s plan and directive.
In other words, we long to help you understand all that the
scripture tells us about God’s use for money, His call
to its use, how we are to adopt a Christian attitude toward money
and to use sound Christian financial principles.
Founded by Larry Burkett as Christian Financial Concepts,
Crown Financial Ministries is an organization dedicated to
seeing “the followers of Christ in every nation faithfully
living by God’s financial principles in every area of
their lives.”¹ Mr. Wilkie Schell (pictured above) — through Crown Financial
Ministry — began the Financial Ministry of First Presbyterian
in 1999. The Financial Ministry is working toward the same
vision right here in Marietta through the commitment of three
budget counselor/coach volunteers.
If you are someone with a financial problem (including issues
of debt) or if God has placed a desire on your heart to learn
more about how to better use the resources He has provided,
we are here to assist and guide you. There is no charge for
this service. It is offered free to anyone who desires to manage their
funds with a Christian attitude - from high school students
to senior citizens! (We also work in conjunction with Stewardship
on FirstFruits material or with estate planning and gifting
opportunities).
