Winter Family Olympics
On Saturday, February 4, 2006 the Nursery Guild and Young Adult Ministries sponsored a family fun day for church families with young children (ages 10 and under).
Our theme was the First Presbyterian Winter Family Olympics; the official Winter Olympics started the following week.
Our morning began with every attending family making their own “family flag." Then, we marched (to the Olympic theme) into the Senior High Room at the WareHouse as part of an opening ceremony that included lighting of the FPC Torch by our own “super” Associate Pastor, and recitation of the Olympic Pledge.
There were all kinds of games, crafts, food and activities based on the Olympics theme: instead of the Bobsled…we had a Dadsled event; an ice skating rink; and a Nerf Biathlon. With snow cones, marshmallow snowmen, and other yummy snacks fueling the fun, it was a great way to burn off the mid-winter blues and get out of the cold to enjoy an afternoon of fun and fellowship.
In the end, every child was awarded a gold medal!
