Lenten Recital Series continues every Tuesday through March 23

FPC invites you to the annual Lenten Recital Series beginning March 9 and continuing every Tuesday through March 23 in the Sanctuary. The concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. March 16: Jody Miller, recorders; Dr. Calvert Johnson, harpsichord and organ. March 23: Atlanta Virtuosi, directed by Juan Ramirez. Your Junk Can Change Lives!

Junior High Fellowship is collecting your “junk” - any unused items you no longer want around your house. Furniture, electronics, kitchen wares, etc., these items will be sold in the Annual Rummage Sale to support the Road Rules Mission Trip. Early drop-off date: Saturday, March 27, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the following address: 1004 Kenmill Drive, Marietta, GA 30060-7911. Please contact (770) 427-0293, ext. 260 if you plan to drop off your “junk” or if you need to arrange for pick-up of heavy or large items. The Road Rules Mission Rummage Sale will be held on Saturday, April 17, 8:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the WareHouse.

Mission Opportunity for the FPC Hospitality Committee

Pick one to two Sundays a month to bring in 40 to 50 pieces of food for FPC Hospitality in Holland Hall. The coffee is already made and set-up. All you have to do is provide light breakfast foods, such as bagels, muffins, doughnut holes, etc. You can partner with friends and/or other couples in your Sunday School class. Book Club at FPC meets on the second Wednesday of every month

Come join a book discussion on the second Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in Room 053. There is a great selection of books beginning with Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. In January, Joshilyn Jackson, author of Between, Georgia will lead the discussion of her book. Join anytime!

Thursday Bible Study Lunch continues

Young Career Women's Bible Study

Wednesday Night offers an enriching Bible Study created specifically for young women (single or married). The study continues on Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in room 050. Amy Gunter and Erin Eby will facilitate discussion using curriculum from 1 and 2 Samuel: The Heart of a Renegade King, as a guide for conversation and prayer. This is an incredible opportunity to be supported in a small group and grow in your own spiritual walk. Cost for materials is $8.00. Join us anytime! Please contact or with any questions.

Young Career Men's Bible Study

This is a new bible study for married men in their 20's and 30's without kids. This study meets Wednesday evenings from 6:45 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Contact Pat MacPherson (770) 655-1711 for more information.

Women on the Run Bible Study continues ever Thursday

The 2009-2010 study will be the book "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World" and meets every Thursday from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. for fun, fellowship, exercise (walking or running) and study. Childcare provided for a nominal fee through FPC's Mother's Morning Out Program (770) 427-029- ext. 229. This group is casual, fun and would love to you to join them. It's Tough Being A Woman! Tuesday morning women's bible study continues every Tuesday

Life delivers its share of knockout punches. But what do you do when you find yourself against the ropes. Come to know more deeply the God who is in your corner with Beth Moore's newest 10-week study–Esther: It's Tough Being A Woman. This study runs through December 1. Continental breakfast starts at 9:00 a.m. and the study begins at 9:30 a.m. Contact to register. Nursery available with reservation.

FPC's Martha Ministry needs your help

The helping hands of First Presbyterian Church are called Martha Ministers. Their mission is to offer personal care to members and friends of this congregation on a temporary or occasional basis. This is done in complete confidentiality with glad and willing hearts. While a crisis situation is often when the Martha Ministers are called, the services they offer are not limited to only those in crisis. If you need a helping hand or would like to volunteer please contact (770) 427-0293. We are currently in need of volunteers, particularly for meals and transportation.

FPC's Congregational Health Ministry news regarding H1N1

The Congregational Health Ministry greatly encourages parents to have their young children immunized for H1N1. If the fee for the immunization is a hardship please contact for confidential assistance.

Help needed in Children's Library

Straighten and re-shelve books weekly. This is a great service opportunity for an individual, family or small group. No prior library experience needed! Please contact , Director of Children's Ministry (770) 427-0293 ext. 249.

Witness Council volunteers needed

Throughout the year, volunteers for the Witness Council offer a warm welcome—along with coffee and conversation—to our members, new comers and regular guests by providing yummy snacks in Holland Hall on Sunday mornings. The Witness Council is currently looking for volunteers to provide snacks in May and June. Each week, four trays of food items are needed (muffins, crispy treats, cookies, fruit, cake, etc.), so they would like three or four volunteers. Snacks do not have to be homemade. These should be in Holland Hall, ready to serve at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday. If you can sign up for a Sunday in May or June, please respond to: (770) 427-3914 or (770) 421-9738.

Young Adult Sunday School Class, Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m.

This class is a discussion/bible study format. We discuss everything from ongoing world events to current news topics and how they relate to the Bible. We meet on Sunday mornings in Room 54 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Singles and couples make up this class with an age-range of 19-30. Leaders are: Nate and Sue Marini, Scott Hawley, and Jimmy Scarr. Come join us!!

Meals on Wheels needs more drivers

Presbyterian Women has volunteered with "Meals On Wheels" in Marietta and Cobb County for 30 years. We need your help to continue this meaningful ministry. Drivers are needed every Wednesday and Friday for approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours to deliver meals to people who need them. The meals are picked up at the the Senior Center on Fairground Street at 10:00 a.m. If you prefer not to drive, but would like to ride with a driver to assist in navigation or provide company, this is a great help as well. Drivers will cover the same route each time. Currently, each drive volunteers twice a quarter, but with more drivers it would be less often. All sizes are available including youth sizes for our littlest missionaries and they are $7 each. The mission field begins when we leave the front door of our church, so whatever we do, and wherever we go to serve God's people, we do it as missionaries of our church, a mission church for Christ. Mission and Service Opportunities

Service Saturday is a recurring monthly event intended for FPC Marietta to serve the local Marietta community. In 2009, we will have seven "Service Saturdays" and two "Great Days of Service". The only difference is the number of volunteers and projects served. The scope of projects can be anything from yard clean-up to minor home maintenance to work at a local community service provider (i.e. MUST Ministries). FPC Marietta believes God blessed each us with talents with the charge to assist others in need.

The next Great Day of Service will be Spring 2010. Anyone wishing to volunteer is encouraged to call FPC Marietta (770) 427-0293 or . Also, if you know someone in need, please with the specific request and contact information.

*FPC Missions has a central response point for anyone interested in participating in local missions, either through service or people who need help.

Mexico Mission online payment opportunities

Mexico Mission 2010 departs Saturday, May 29 and returns Wednesday, June 9. The cost is $375.00 for the first child in a family, then $300.00 for each additional child from a family. Register online with a $100.00 non-refundable deposit to reserve your spot. You may opt for payments in 4 installments or all at once. Note: The 2nd non-refundable payment of $100.00 would be due January 10, the 3rd non-refundable payment of $100.00 due March 14 and 4th, if applicable and non-refundable payment of $75.00 due May 2.
