Some would say that First Presbyterian Church is a collection of buildings situated at the corner of Church Street and Kennesaw Avenue in Marietta, Georgia. We believe that First Presbyterian Church is much more than brick and mortar.
As Presbyterians, we trace our denominational roots back to the 16th century and the Protestant Reformation. “Our heritage, and much of what we believe, began with the French lawyer John Calvin (1509-1564), whose writings crystallized much of the Reformed thinking that came before him.” 1
We understand that our roots are critical to our growth and we celebrate the foundation on which our church is built. But we are also a people excitedly looking forward! Our Mission focus, our children’s programs, our opportunities to extend welcome to new friends and our gospel sharing opportunities enliven us and call us into action.
We are a people representing a multitude of life stages. Most of our membership consists of families, retirees and grand adults. We are thankful for strong and thriving youth programs which nurture and educate more than 900 children ages 0 – 18.
We are more than the buildings that exist on our campus! We are students, doctors, pilots, business professionals, builders, teachers, singers, musicians, parents, grandparents, sisters and brothers in a family of faith.
We believe in the value of Christian education, Presbyterian governance and carrying forth the mission of Christ: to share in the experience of a life dedicated to the praise, worship and service of God.
We are anxiously awaiting the future that God has planned for First Presbyterian Church!
